When you’re the victim of unscrupulous debt collection agencies, it can tear your life to shreds and feel like the end of the world.
At Lemberg Law, we go toe-to-toe with debt collection agencies. Our team of in-house and Of-Counsel attorneys has an unwavering commitment to using debt collection laws and fair credit laws to demand justice for our clients and hold debt collectors accountable.
Our overriding mission is to protect you. We don’t represent corporations or big business. Our clients are family-oriented, hard-working, ordinary people who know that they can’t fight the system on their own. We advocate on their behalf for the justice they deserve.
But that’s not all we do. We’re committed to giving back by offering scholarships to students entering and attending college. And, through our research and thought leadership, we move the conversation about public policy and consumer protection forward.
HAVING AN IMPACT
We’re pleased that our efforts have caused debt collectors to stand up and take notice. For three years in a row (2012, 2013, and 2014), we’ve been named the “most active” consumer attorneys in the U.S. by the debt collection industry.
We’re equally proud of our A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. Our BBB rating reflects the fulfillment of our pledge that every person on our staff – from our receptionist to our paralegal to our managing partner – will treat you with the respect and dignity you deserve. — See our review page at BBB.
Most of all, we take pride in making a difference in our clients’ lives. These kinds of results make it a pleasure to go to work every day:
Collector Threats: A Florida man received numerous phone calls from a debt collector who refused to give the man any information about the debt he allegedly owed. The debt collector repeatedly threatened to “hold his credit score hostage” and withhold any information about the debt until the man provided him with his Social Security number. On our client’s behalf, Lemberg Law filed suit under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
Our Results: The debt collection agency agreed to erase the entire debt plus remove negative items on our client’s credit report.
Calling the Boss: A debt collector contacted a Maryland woman’s boss four times regarding her debt. Embarrassed, in fear of losing her job, and desperate for help, she called us.
Our Results: Our team stopped the calls, and the woman received $1,750.
WHY OUR HELP IS FREE FOR YOU
At Lemberg Law, we’re often asked why our services are usually free. The short answer is that consumer attorneys are typically able to offer free or contingency fee services because of fee-shifting provisions in consumer protection laws. This means that, when our clients win, the debt collection agency has to pay our fees and court costs.
These fee-shifting provisions level the playing field and allow consumers who have been victimized to challenge big companies that have teams of lawyers on their payrolls.
