Valentine and Kebartas started out in 1994 as a two-member team emphasizing stellar performance, committed to results, and responsiveness to customers. Valentine & Kebartas Inc. has grown substantially over the years, and now boasts offices in Massachusetts, Florida, Idaho, and Panama. Valentine & Kebartas has a diversified portfolio of debt services that they offer across sectors, including retail, bank cards, telecommunications, utilities, insurance, government, commercial leasing, and utilities. Valentine Kebartas offers pre-collection programs, near shore collections, third-party collections, and letter series. Valentine and Kebartas Inc. also offers their clients access to a network of debt collection attorneys who take consumers to court.

Valentine & Kebartas’ website says that its third-party debt collection “imparts a sense of urgency upon seriously delinquent customers….” How do they impart that sense of urgency? “Concerted calling campaigns supplemented by automated skip tracing and third-party notices.”

Valentine & Kebartas Complaints

Valentine and Kebartas complaints are many and varied. As of June 2012, the Better Business Bureau lists 95 Valentine & Kebartas complaints closed within the past three years, with 30 closed within the past 12 months. The BBB gives Valentine & Kebartas Inc. a B- rating.

In addition to Valentine and Kebartas complaints, there have been several Valentine and Kebartas lawsuits filed in federal court. As of June 2012, there have been at least six Valentine & Kebartas lawsuits filed in 2012 for alleged violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

Stop Valentine & Kebartas Harassment

Valentine and Kebartas have a reputation they could do without. If you believe that you have been harassed by Valentine and Kebartas debt collector, you should understand your rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. For example, it is a violation of the FDCPA to use obscenities, threats, or other abusive language. Moreover, the FDCPA says that debt collectors can only call at reasonable times, typically between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. Similarly, a debt collector can’t call you at work if he or she knows that your employer doesn’t permit personal calls, or if you have indicated that you don’t wish to be called at work.

In addition, a debt collection agency – whether Valentine & Kebartas or another debt collector – can’t pretend to be calling from a law firm when they’re not, nor can they threaten you with legal action if they have no intention or ability to take you to court.

If you want to stop Valentine Kebartas harassment, you can send them a cease and desist letter. When you do, Valentine & Kebartas may no longer contact you by phone or by mail, except to inform you that they are no longer going to try and collect on the debt or that they are going to take legal action.
