TSYS Total Debt Management

TSYS stands for Total System Services, and the company is a mover and shaker on the paperless payments scene. Headquartered in Columbus, GA, TSYS is a publicly held company, traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker TSS. In the debt collection arena, TSYS offers creditors both first-party and third-party collection services. The company takes pride in its ability to deploy multi-channel communications for clients with debt collection needs. They utilize just about every method imaginable, from websites to emails, from text messaging to snail mail, and – of course – automated robocalls.

TSYS offers a number of services to its clients, and boasts of having 2,500 “seats” at its call centers around the world. The company has call centers in the U.S., U.K., Netherlands, South Africa, Jamaica, and the Philippines.

Stop TSYS Harassment

The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act outlines a number of practices that constitute harassment. For example, the FDCPA prohibits a debt collection agency from communicating with consumers via postcard, or from using a symbol or language on an envelope that indicates that the correspondence is from debt collectors. In addition, debt collectors cannot use any kind of abusive or threatening language in letters or on the phone. Any kind of threat to consumers, their families, their reputations, or their property is in violation of the FDCPA. Use of obscene or abusive language through email or letters is also prohibited.

TSYS prides itself on the ability of its skip tracing system to locate consumers. It’s important to note, however, that debt collection agencies often contact the wrong people. Even the best skip tracing systems often use “best matching” or “approximate matching.” This means that, if your name is similar to that of someone who is behind in their bills, you might be on the receiving end of debt collection calls. Keep in mind that even if you’re being called in error, you’re still protected under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

You should also realize that, once TSYS or any other debt collection agency learns that you are represented by an attorney, they cannot contact you directly. If you have an attorney the debt collector must only communicate with him or her. So, if you’re on the receiving end of TSYS harassment, it’s important to consult a fair debt attorney as soon as possible.
