SIMM Associates

Based in Delaware and operating since 1991, SIMM Associates is a debt collection agency that services a wide range of industries, including auto finance, credit card, and healthcare. It’s likely much of SIMM Associates’ business these days comes from another of their specialties, namely sub prime debt recovery. SIMM Associates has also recently launched what it terms its “Probate Collection Division.” This is another way of saying that SIMM Assoc tries to collect from the deceased. Seemingly, their market niche is in putting the pressure on society’s most vulnerable. SIMM Associates has over 300 workstations, and touts that it’s among the top 100 debt collection agencies.

SIMM Associates Complaints

While there are many SIMM Associates complaints on consumer online discussion boards, the Better Business Bureau also reveals a number of SIMM Associates complaints. As of June 2012, the BBB logged 91 closed complaints over the past three years, including 20 closed SIMM Associates complaints in the past 12 months. The BBB gives SIMM Associates a B+ rating. However, the BBB tells only part of the story. In the first half of 2012, there have been five SIMM Associates lawsuits filed in federal court for alleged violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act

Stop SIMM Associates Harassment

If you’re the victim of SIMM Associates harassment calls, it’s important to know your rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

Many consumers are anxious to know how debt collectors like SIMM Associates uncovers consumers’ phone numbers and addresses, or how to stop SIMM Associates harassment calls. Although SIMM Assoc doesn’t want you to know their secrets, here are some of the ways debt collectors typically find you:

Contacting family and neighbors. Using a former address, debt collection agencies like SIMM Associates will find out the names, addresses, and phone numbers of your friends and neighbors, and will get to work calling them to find you.

Using social networking sites. Facebook, LinkedIn, and other networking communities are gold mines of personal information. Your social profile can tell SIMM Associates where you work, who your friends and colleagues are, clubs you belong to, activities you participate in, the names of your spouse and children, and so forth. If you have an open page, your information is available to the world.

Pretending that they’re an old friend. Using information they’ve found from any of the above sources, debt collection agencies sometimes call an unsuspecting employer, friend, neighbor, or family member. The person on the other end of the phone feels like they’re helping two old friends get back together and gives the debt collector your cell phone number, work number or home number, new address, and/or email address.

  2. These people are rude, call at 5a and every hour after that. Never leave messages. Call my 12 year old sons phone. They threaten you with actions that are not permisable. This needs to stop and they should not be allowed to do this to people.
