P&B Capital Group

P&B Capital Group was founded in 2004, and is headquartered in Buffalo, NY, with a second call center located in Tampa, FL. According to their website, P&B Capital Group takes a kinder, gentler approach to collections, and state that they believe successful collections occur when both debtor and creditor are satisfied with the results. They claim that Bank of America nominated P&B Capital Group for Small Business of the Year, and that they received a Certificate of Merit from the New York State Assembly for their contributions to the community. However, the local Better Business Bureau gives them a rating of F. As of September 2011, the BBB lists 71 complaints within the last three years. They have been sued in federal court 15 times in the past year for allegedly violating the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

Stop Debt Collector Harassment

The Federal Trade Commission says that 43% of the debt collection complaints they receive are about telephone harassment and multiple calls a day. If you think about it, a collector can’t earn a commission unless he’s talking to the consumer (or somebody he thinks he can convince to pay the bill), so why not keep calling until you make contact? Often, debt collectors count on consumers not knowing or understanding their rights, and can often get away with harassing behavior.

This kind of behavior has to be stopped. If you get calls from a debt collector, make sure to log every call, who you spoke to, and what was said. You have rights and you can sue (at no cost to you) to have those rights protected. In the process, you can collect up to $1,000.

  1. I called P $ B Capital Group @ 1.888.569.9635 today, Aug. 1, 2013. I was speaking w/representative Michael Glover and tried to inform him of my name, he interrupted me stating my name and what could he do for me. I stated, I was calling to cancel my arrangements made on July 3, 2013 with Mr. Swift until a letter was received per the phone call w/Mr. Swift and w/two other representatives I had talked w/in July. He was rude, stated “he is not my child and not to talk to him like I was”. I did not raise my voice, I was not rude, I only asked that the payment be withdrawn until a letter confirming the arrangements made w/your representative was mailed out and I receive it. Mr. Glover stated our conversation was being recorded and he would get his supervisor to handle this call.
Jeff Coldwell came on the line, and I asked for the representatives name who answered my call, and was given the name of Michael Glover. I explained to him how the call was handled, he apologized and listened to my statements. He said he would mail a letter tomorrow because the today’s mail had already been picked up. He stated my address and to expect the statement from your company by Monday or Tuesday of next week. I appreciate that your company has this concern and communication for your clients to work toward the same goal of paying of my debts. Thank you! A. Roberta Rucker
