IQ Data International Complaints

The Better Business Bureau gives IQData an A+ rating, which is surprising since – as of June 2012 – the organization recorded 139 closed IQ Data International complaints over the past three years, including 60 closed IQ Data International complaints in the past 12 months. But those aren’t the only complaints that surface. In addition to those found in online discussion boards, there were seven IQ Data International, Inc. lawsuits filed in federal court during the first half of 2012 for alleged violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

There are many, many IQ Data International complaints on the online consumer discussion boards. One woman alleges that, when she asked for details about a debt IQ Data International collections contacted her about, she was told that they didn’t have to provide her with the details of the $7,000 plus debt. When she told them that she would simply contact the original creditor herself, she says that they told her that it was illegal. When she did get in touch with the original creditor, she says that she was told that she owed $262, not over $7,000. Another poster alleges that IQ Data International searches bankruptcy filings and contacts consumers for debts that have already been legally discharged though the courts. Another woman claims that she gave IQData her boyfriend’s credit card to stop a lawsuit, and instead of running it one time like she thought, they ran it 9 times. She reports that he had to cancel the card to get IQData to stop.

Stop IQ Data International Harassment

Even though the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act sets guidelines for how debt collectors are supposed to act when attempting to collect a debt, there are those who seem to believe that they are above the law. For instance, the FDCPA prohibits debt collection agencies from tacking on outrageous fees to a debt. Another instance of illegal behavior is lying to a consumer about their right to contact an original creditor or trying to make a consumer pay for a debt that has been formally discharged in bankruptcy.

Luckily, there are provisions in the FDCPA that allow victims of debt collection harassment to sue the offenders in a court of law. If you feel that your rights are being violated, contact a fair debt attorney and ask whether or not you have a strong case. If you do and you win your lawsuit, a judge can grant you up to $1,000 in damages, plus court costs and attorney fees.

  1. I have been receiving calls for nearly a year for a broken lease. The last 2 months they are threatening a law suit and keep saying they cannot contact me ex who was also on the lease. I know that is not true because I have been there when she spoke to them. Can they sue me or are they lying. I owe 1056 according to them

  2. I have been trying to contact the IQ data inc agency and I have not been able to speak with anyone in regards to my collection debt. The only way I found I owe them was through my credit report and I’ve not been able to settle my debt since then. Any advice or other ways I can contact them??

  3. I have been dealing with these thugs for months constant threats harassing phone calls no paper work ever recieved from them let alone reciepts for payments made to them. They make threats of garnishment and have very unprofessional phone edicate. I missed one month payment and they went balistic. There is this girl karin vey rude and demanding i feel sorry for any man who deals with her. She called me numerous times demanding payment i set a date had the funds never charged my card. Well they finally charge my card mode than the agreed amount and when i called them to discuss the matter i was given the run around until this prick in there legal department gets on the phone. Im not going to say what i think of him because im going to take this whole company to court for making numerous violations of consumer debt practices. All im gonna say is hide in your office coward.
